Abdul Halim Jantan is the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Insurance Brokers, a company he started in year 2000. Prior to embarking his broking journey, he spent 14 years at American Malaysian Insurance Berhad (AMI), being his last position as the Chief Executive Officer. At Sterling, he had developed and pioneered the insurances for power plant and large industrialized risks particularly in mega construction projects, including Malakoff Corporation Group, Sarawak Power Generation Sdn Bhd, Jimah Energy Ventures Sdn Bhd, C.T. Power Limited (Mauritius), Astronautic Technology Sdn Bhd (ATSB), Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB). Through the years, he has successfully established Sterling as the Premium Independent Power Plant (IPP) broker in the insurance and reinsurance market. With over 35 years of experience, he is well known as a wise mentor and a resourceful advisor in the insurance broking industry.

Halim is also currently sits on the Board of Director of Consilium Engineering Sdn Bhd and TUV Nord Engineering Services Sdn Bhd.

In the field of training and ICT, Halim serves as a Director of Sterling iTech Services Sdn Bhd and an Independent & Non-Executive Director of Theta Edge Berhad.

Dubbed the ‘Industry Captain’, Halim believes in bringing about the discipline of the old whilst riding the wave of innovation with the new, to the industry. With that vision, he was invited to sit on the board of non‐profit organizations such as Insurance Industry Consolidation Committee, Industry Master Plan, Mergers and Acquisition Committee; all are joint effort with Bank Negara Malaysia, Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia Management Committee, MII Professional Development Committee and MITBA Talent Committee where he is the Chairperson.

Nevertheless, his true calling in life is teaching. His love and passion for it has made him a frequent face as panel speaker at Industry seminars, conferences as well as an occasional guest lecturer at local universities. The organizations he spoke to were Malaysia Insurance Institute (MII), Malaysian Association of Risk and Insurance Management (MARIM), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB-ILSAS), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR), to name a few.
